Desde este mes y siguiendo las indicaciones de varios amigos, al final del artículo en español, vendrá el mismo artículo traducido al inglés. ¡Ojala! sirva esta ampliación de nuestro pequeño servicio, a contribuir a que estemos cada día más unidos en la distancia, los vicentinos “de a pie” del mundo y más al tanto de nuestras mutuas preocupaciones. Una unión en oración individual y colectiva, de alabanza al Buen Dios y de acción por nuestros amigos que sufren. Unas pequeñas Comunidades, de oración y acción, cada Conferencia, que se extienden por el mundo.
Para eso fuimos soñados por los cofundadores y por esa razón seguimos existiendo. Ahora, se nos está pidiendo al pequeño equipo que mantiene estos artículos, que ampliemos el discreto servicio que venimos prestando. ¡Que llegue a nuestros hermanos de habla inglesa! Pues bien, después de meditarlo nos hemos dicho: hagamos el esfuerzo. Merece la pena al menos intentarlo y ver por sus resultados, si este servicio le es agradable al Misericordioso o si sólo lo es para el equipo que sostiene estos modestos escritos mensuales, (si sólo es producto de nuestra vanidad). Claro que ello es posible desgraciadamente: la vanidad nos persigue y hemos de estar siempre en guardia contra el Malo que acecha y aprovecha cualquiera de nuestras debilidades.
Estamos dentro de una preciosa Sociedad formada y mantenida desde nuestros orígenes por seglares, seglares que comparten su fe con humildad y sin alharacas. Discretamente. Fuera de las Conferencias de San Vicente de Paúl, cualquier tipo de ostentación o de presunción. No es lo nuestro y nunca lo fue. Un consocio, llamado Jacinto, ya conocido para aquellos que siguen estos artículos, nos destinará con alguna frecuencia el fruto de la pequeña investigación que está haciendo sobre nuestros orígenes y la filosofía que nos preside. Creo que serán muy jugosas y nos ayudarán a situarnos en la centralidad de nuestra Fundación, allá hace casi 200 años, en estos tiempos de tanto cambio para todo y en todo, justificado o no. Con necesidad o sin ella.
Para los antiguos lectores en español, de tantos lugares del mundo de estos últimos cuatro años en esta página de mi querida Diócesis de Sigüenza-Guadalajara, y para aquellos que hacen fotocopias por su caridad para repartirlas entre sus hermanos por creer que les hacen el bien, para los nuevos que vendrán si esa es la voluntad de nuestro Padre y así lo permite, en el idioma que se asoma por primera vez a esta página y a todos el saludo cordial y el agradecimiento de vuestro amigo y de tantos consocio.

EXPANDING THE SERVICE'S RANGE OF ACTION
From this month, and following the suggestions of several friends, at the end of this article in Spanish, there will be the same article translated into English. I wish that this extension of our small service could help us, the "grass roots" of the Vincentian world, to become more united in spite of distance and more aware of our mutual concerns. A union in individual and collective prayer, a prayer of praise to the Good Lord and of action for our suffering friends. Conferences are small communities of prayer and action, which spread throughout the world.
That is why the co-founders dreamed of us and that is why we still exist. Now, the small team that support these articles, we have being asked to expand the discreet service that we have been providing: to make it reach our English-speaking brothers! Well, after thinking about it, we have said, let us make the effort! At least, it is worth trying and seeing through its results, whether this service is pleasing to the Merciful God or it is only pleasing to the team that supports these modest monthly writings, (whether it is only a product of our vanity). Of course, this is unfortunately possible: vanity haunts us and we must always be on our guard against the Evil who stalks and takes advantage of any of our weaknesses.
We are within a precious Society made of and kept by lay people since our origins, lay people who share their faith with humility and without fuss. Discreetly. Outside the Conferences of St. Vincent de Paul, any kind of ostentation or presumption is not proper for us and has never been. A fellow member, named Jacinto, already known to those who follow these articles, will occasionally offer to us the fruit of the small research he is doing on our origins and on the values by which we are governed. I think they will be very interesting and will help us to focus on the centrality of our Foundation, almost 200 years ago, in the present time of so many changes for everything and in everything, justified or not, needed or not.
I thank the former readers in Spanish, from so many places in the world, in these last four years of the website of my dear Diocese of Siguenza-Guadalajara. I thank those who make photocopies out of charity to hand them out to their brothers, believing that it is beneficial to them. I finally thank the new English-speaking readers, (language that comes for the first time to this website), if that is the will of our Father and He allows it.
