Últimamente me encuentro con personas, la mayoría de la década de los años 60, que heredaron de sus progenitores, la práctica de la fe católica. Muchos de ellos vinculados a grupos parroquiales durante su infancia y juventud. Seguro que todos sabemos de qué hablo. Forman parte de nuestras familias, amistades, círculos laborales…
Muchas de estas personas, al llegar a una edad adulta en la que uno toma las riendas de la propia vida y forja su futuro, dejaron al margen todo lo que les relacionaba con la fe y la Iglesia, ¿por comodidad?, ¿porque no está de moda creer en Dios?, ¿porque supone un esfuerzo y un compromiso?... Nos podríamos hacer muchas más preguntas sobre los motivos que mueven a muchos católicos a abandonar la Iglesia o a vivirla “desde lejos”.
Con el paso de los años, he observado que estas mismas personas tienen necesidad de una vuelta a un mundo interior que dé respuestas y sentido a su vida e iluminen las situaciones cotidianas, pero tristemente no hay un regreso a la búsqueda de Dios, fuente de Vida.
Oigo frases como: “pido al universo que te envíe toda la energía” “cuando hago meditación, os hago llegar mi energía” “voy a meditar con yoga”…
Dios es el creador del universo, ¿por qué buscar respuestas en lo que Él no ha creado y no ir directamente al Creador?
Otras frases que he oído entre los practicantes de estas técnicas han sido: “hoy me toca ejercitarme en el perdón”, “hoy me toca ejercitarme en el amor” …
La Biblia nos dice de mil formas distintas, la importancia de vivir el amor, nos habla del perdón, de vivir alegres… Como ejemplo, el capítulo 13 de San Pablo a los Corintios que tan bellamente nos lo expresa.
Para los vicentinos, los miembros de las Conferencias de San Vicente, aconsejo una lectura reposada del artículo 2.2 de nuestra Regla.
Hoy, más que nunca, necesitamos vivir la fe, apoyados en nuestros pequeños grupos que, como las Conferencias de San Vicente, conforman la Iglesia y que nos ayudan a no abandonar el profundizar en nuestra vida interior a través de la oración, que nos lleva a la Fuente de Vida y por lo tanto a expresarla en la entrega en el Amor a quien nos necesita.

WE NEED TO BELIEVE
Lately I have been meeting people, mostly born in the 1960s, who inherited the practice of the Catholic faith from their parents. Many of them were involved in parish groups during their childhood and youth. I am sure we all know what I am talking about. These parish groups are part of our families, friendships, working circles...
Many of these people, on reaching an adult age when one takes control of one's own life and forges one's future, have left everything related to the faith and the Church to one side. Is it for reasons of comfort? Because it is not fashionable to believe in God? Because it requires an effort and a commitment? We could ask ourselves many more questions about the reasons that push many Catholics to abandon the Church or to live it "from afar".
Over the years, I have observed that these same people need to return to an inner world that could give answers and meaning to their lives and enlighten everyday situations but, sadly, there is no return to the search for God, who is the source of Life.
I hear phrases such as, "I ask the universe to send you all the energy", "when I do meditation, I send you my energy", "I'm going to meditate with yoga"....
God is the creator of the universe, why look for answers in what He did not create and, instead, go directly to the Creator?
Other phrases I have heard among practitioners of these techniques have been, "today my task is to exercise forgiveness", "today my task is to exercise love”....
The Bible tells us in a thousand different ways, the importance of living love; it speaks of forgiveness, of living joyfully... As an example, chapter 13 of Saint Paul to the Corinthians expresses it so beautifully.
I advise the Vincentians, the members of the Conferences of St. Vincent, to read carefully article 2.2 of our Rule.
Today, more than ever, we need to live our faith with the support of our small groups like the Conferences of St. Vincent. They make up the Church and help us not to abandon the deepening of our inner life through prayer, which leads us to the Source of Life and therefore to express it in giving ourselves through Love to those who need us.
