LA BARCA
De nuevo, un artículo de un muy buen amigo y consocio. Rafael G. Serrano, que me gustó mucho en su momento. Al publicarlo ahora, aspiro a lograr dos cosas: la primera: enriquecer los modestos artículos mensuales que envío y la segunda, dar un respiro a mis queridos consocios que los leen, de tener que prestar atención un mes más a algo escrito por mí, además tercero, no olvidar aquella época que nos trajo tanto sufrimiento, tanta esperanza y tanta enseñanza que a veces, parece hemos olvidado
Vamos a ello:
--Podéis ir en paz.
Acabada la Misa salieron a disfrutar el sol de media mañana, Decidieron acercarse al parque del Retiro[i] a pasear un rato y tomar un aperitivo a la sombra y en la tranquilidad de sus terrazas.
Encontraron sitio frente al magnífico monumento al Rey Alfonso XII con el estanque atiborrado de barcas y alegres remeros aficionados y cantidad de modestas atracciones que a lo largo del paseo ofrecían desde teatro de guiñol para los niños, músicos, pintores enseñando sus trabajos a echadores de cartas para paseantes supersticiosos, curiosos o aburridos. De todo había, y sobre todo, alegría, ganas de vivir, sensación de proximidad a la demás gente que en este rato paseaba despreocupada.
-¿Te das cuenta? Hace unos días todavía estábamos todos encerrados en casa temerosos del contagio y de nuestra propia vida.
- Así es. Y esto me recuerda al relato del Evangelio cuando los apóstoles en la barca, y ante una gran tormenta, temían por su vida.
Hemos estado en la barca, nos hemos encontrado desprotegidos ante una fuerza superior a nosotros y a la sociedad que nos protege, en este caso impotente ante el enemigo desconocido.
Seguro que muchos se han encomendado a Dios. Ante el miedo al sufrimiento y a la muerte han vuelto a renacer en su fe, o a rehabilitarla, a poner en manos del Altísimo la protección o la salvación.
-Llevas toda la razón. El Señor vino a salvarlos nuevamente --como Cristo andando sobre las aguas -- cuando el virus nos atacó igual que a aquellos que dudaron del cuidado que Dios tiene por los hombres. Creo que has encontrado una buena situación para poner al día nuestros recuerdos del Evangelio.
Hablaron de alguna cosa más y terminado su aperitivo los dos amigos se despidieron hasta la próxima cita en su Conferencia y marcharon a su casa cada uno a sus obligaciones o devociones

THE BOAT
Once again, an article by a very good friend and fellow member, Rafael G. Serrano, which I liked very much at the time. By publishing it now, I hope to achieve two things: firstly, to enrich the modest monthly articles I send and secondly, to give my dear fellow members who read them a break from having to pay attention one more month to something written by me, and thirdly, not to forget that time that brought us so much suffering, so much hope and so many teachings that we sometimes seem to have forgotten.

Once the Mass was finished, they went out to enjoy the mid-morning sun. They decided to go to the Retiro Park[i] to stroll around for a while and have an aperitif in the shade and calm of its open-air cafes.
They found a place in front of the magnificent monument to King Alphonse XII, with the pond crammed with boats and cheerful amateur rowers and a number of modest attractions along the promenade offering everything from puppet shows for children, musicians, painters exhibiting their work to fortune tellers for superstitious, curious or bored passers-by. There was everything, and above all, there was joy, joie de vivre, a feeling of closeness to the other people who were strolling carefree at that time.
-Do you realise? A few days ago we were all still locked up at home fearing contagion and fearing for our own lives.
-That's right, and this reminds me of the Gospel story when the apostles in the boat, facing a great storm, feared for their lives.
We have been in the boat, we have found ourselves unprotected against a force greater than ourselves and the society that protects us, in this case impotent in the face of the unknown enemy.
I am sure that many have entrusted themselves to God. Faced with the fear of suffering and death, they have been reborn in their faith, or restored it, they have placed their protection or salvation in the hands of the Most High.
-You are absolutely right. The Lord came to save them again -like Christ walking on the water- when the virus attacked us as well as those who doubted God's care for men. I think you have found a good place to update our memories of the Gospel.
They talked about something else and when they finished their aperitif, the two friends said goodbye until the next meeting at their Conference and went home, each to his own duties or devotions.
